REMINGTON
ROLLING BLOCK # 4
Takedown model, single shot, mfg. 1904, serial 5330, rifle
has a Krieger match barrel and is stocked with an
exhibition grade Turkish Circassian walnut stock which is
hand checkered in a 22 lpi pattern. The stock is
finished with a hand rubbed oil finish. Restored and
engraved by Master Gunmaker and Engraver Ralph P. Bone,
Owasso, OK.
Engraving on left side features a 24K yellow gold border
around a gamescene vignette. In the scene is a field
mouse carved in semi-relief. The dandelions
surrounding the mouse are highly detailed and made of 24k
yellow gold, with oak leaves carved in 22K green and pink
gold.
Right side of receiver features a gamescene vignette
outlined by a hand inlaid 24K yellow gold wire border. The
rabbit in the scene is semi-relief carved with expert
detail and made of 24K yellow gold as well. The
cactus is also semi-relief carved and made of 22K green
gold. The rocks in the foreground are carved of fine
silver. These scenes capture a level of detail
rarely found in contemporary engravings today.
On the top of the barrel as well as the
bottom tang area there is profuse coverage in 24K gold
wire filigree work with stunning detail. As one can
see by the photos , no expense was spared in the execution
and design of these engravings during this restoration.
